Chairman - Richard Cunningham

Richard was appointed as Chairman of CommonTime in September 2006. He sits as Chairman for three other early stage technology companies as well as working as a consultant for the leading early stage technology venture capital fund, Herald Ventures.

Previously Richard was Managing Director for telecommunications service provider, Project Telecom. He was central to the growth of the company from embryonic stage to its flotation in 2000 and eventual sale to Vodafone plc in 2003 for £165m.

Prior to joining Project Telecom, Richard was Vice President of Citicorp Investment Bank, specializing in European electronics and telecommunications where he moved to from Citicorp Scrimgeour Vickers. Richard started his career at Ratheon before moving on to Texas Instruments after gaining a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Bristol University.


Board Member - Kevin Douglas

Kevin has 10 years experience of investing in public and private companies and currently serves on the board of CommonTime.

He divides his time between examining new investment opportunities and helping a number of Antrak's portfolio companies deal with the challenges of staying fit for growth.

Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa, he now lives in Surrey with his wife and young daughter.

CEO - Ian Knight

Ian joined CommonTime in 2008 as CEO, responsible for shaping CommonTime's global growth strategy.

Ian has over 20 years experience working in the software industry. Prior to joining CommonTime he was Global Sales Director for Talgentra, a collections management software business that was eventually sold to Experian in 2007 in a multi-million pound deal. Ian has been part of many successful management teams, including Bluestar Solutions, Blaze Software and TETRA plc (SAGE). He has been instrumental in revenue growth to enable the eventual sale of two of those companies to large multinationals.

Ian started his career as a Chartered Civil Engineer graduating with a BEng in Civil Engineering. Following several years in the field, Ian completed a Postgraduate qualification in Accounting, Finance, Marketing and Management Studies. In his spare time Ian enjoys deep sea diving, spending time with his 5 children, and has a passion for cars.


Chief Technical Officer (CTO) - Nigel Mackrill

Nigel is one of the founding members of CommonTime and has been instrumental in defining the CommonTime vision and positioning since the company was formed in 1993. Having led the company for 15 years as Managing Director, Nigel moved to the role of CTO in 2008 to focus on product development.

Prior to setting up CommonTime Nigel worked as Research and Development Director at Minitech, a software development company. Previously he worked for Wang in a software engineering role, helping to implement wireless mobile field service for Wang’s 650 UK field service engineers, before moving on to ICL as a field service engineer.

Nigel started his career in the Royal Air Force in 1966 as an electronics engineer where he worked for 8 years on aircraft instrumentation.


Customer Service Director - Rob Colver

Rob is one of the founding members of CommonTime and is directly responsible for CommonTime’s UK and US post-sales Support teams. He has been instrumental in shaping CommonTime’s post sales support structure and for building the company’s global reputation for exemplary product support.

Rob started his career at IBM, selling 3x systems before moving to a similar role with Wang. He was then recruited by Minitech as Sales Director, working closely with Nigel Mackrill before founding CommonTime in 1993.

Rob is a graduate of Oxford University and sits on the CommonTime Board, representing interests of the founding shareholders. In his spare time Rob can be found working on his farm and enjoying spending time with his grandchildren.


Finance Director - Jon Lawrence

Jon joined CommonTime in 2006 as an experienced Finance Director with over seven years experience working in the mobile telecoms and software industry.

Previously Jon worked for Xenicom, a business that developed project and process management optimization software for mobile operators. He was instrumental in developing the business for sale to Andrew Corporation in January 2005.

Jon qualified with Ernst & Young where he worked in Corporate Finance, leading a number of successful projects. He is a graduate of Oxford University and a qualified Chartered Accountant.
