The bespoke First Responder app, developed by CommonTime in partnership with Vodafone UK, will improve the efficiency and response times of 1,200 South Central Ambulance Service's (SCAS) Community First Responders (CFRs) and Co Responders. These volunteers are vital as they are trained to handle medical emergencies by providing essential and often life saving first aid to patients prior to an ambulance arriving.

First Response enables dispatch teams to monitor the activity and location of all online responders in real-time. As soon as an incident is reported, a push notification can be sent to the nearest responder via the smartphone or tablet app. Incident details are embedded in alerts through iCAD integration along with one-touch response options to indicate availability.

The First Responder app, enables CFRs to log in and report exact availability and location via GPS tracking over Vodafone 4G connectivity. The app helps to increase response times by showing individual CFRs the best route to attend a scene as quickly as possible.

Nic Morecroft, Head of Operations – Community Engagement & Training, South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We recognise there is a huge opportunity to improve patient care using digital technology. The First Responder app highlights how implementing technology solutions can have an immediate and real impact on the service we offer to patients. Feedback from the initial rollout has been extremely positive; and we have already seen improved efficiencies with some great feedback from our CFRs.”

Ian Knight, CEO of CommonTime said “We are privileged to be working with SCAS to help them improve response times and efficiency for this critical service. Our experience in developing bespoke mobile applications has served us well and allowed us to develop the unique solution which SCAS required to ensure CFRs were able to continue to deliver lifesaving first aid effectively. We look forward to working with both SCAS and Vodafone to identify future enhancements and others areas where we can work together to aid these essential volunteers.”

CommonTime create enterprise mobility solutions that empower employees, redefine the workplace, and transform existing processes into new efficiencies. We achieve this by pairing innovative technology with the knowledge of our industry leading experts.
